2013★Family trip★Penang-Ipoh-KL

Yeah, finally i had time to blog about family trip to Penang, Ipoh and KL. Dad and mum always said that they want to visit Ipoh because I always talk about how delicious are Ipoh food and how beautiful is the places that I visited. So, in the journey of attending cousin wedding, they took some day off to come to visit the mountain city and pearl island! Thanks to bro for being the driver who is super pro and never fails to lead us to the right destination. All in all, it was a fun fun trip... xD

14 Nov, my family came all the way from BP to Ipoh to pick me up. Before heading to Penang, I brought them to have the famous Lou Wong ngah choi gai and Funny Mountain dou fu hua.

It was raining heavily when we were on the way to Penang. We arrived homestay at about 6pm and there was a family come from Japan lived there too. Great that i can use my broken japanese to talk to them, Konnichiwa, Kamsamida, Sayonara... Hahaha... From the conversation, I get to know that they came here just to avoid from the radiation and they planned to settle down in malaysia and started to work here just for their children sake. After check-in homestay and rest for a while, we went to bridegroom's house for wedding eve buffet party. The food were nice and there were two stalls that specially serving ice kacang and fried kuey teow after you ordered! After that, we went to Gurney Plaza! Look there is Christmas decoration at that time!

The second day, we woke up early in the morning just to dress up ourselves to attend ROM in the grand Macalister Mansion. The environment and decoration were so nice and we really enjoy taking lots of photo. Hahaha... After attending ROM, we changed our attire and headed to Queensbay Mall! We didn't shop for too long because we need to rush back to prepare ourselves for the wedding dinner. And, you know the traffic jam in Penang is crazy especially during evening. Wedding dinner was at Maple Palace and all the food served were yummy. I like 'jiak dor' (hokkien)! =P

The next day, we went to Pasar Air Itam to have the famous and popular old grandma curry mee who sat by the roadside to sell curry mee. We also visited Kek Lok Si and mural too. It was very hot and we just managed to find some of the mural...

After that, we headed to Ipoh. I slept on the way to Ipoh and it was raining when we almost reached Ipoh. Dinner was at the famous hawker centre, 冬菇亭 and we shopped at Aeon Station 18 after dinner! Supper was Tong Shui Kai, having ice kacang in the cold weather...

Food at 冬菇亭

The next day, we were having breakfast at my strongly-recommended curry mee, 新泉方. We waited for almost an hour... The meals costs more than rm50, a bit expensive for the breakfast but worth the price! Miss the crispy pork!

Again, not forgot to see Ipoh mural. Dad and mum are just so cute. Haha...

Lunch was 大树下炸酿料. It was crowded too due to holidays. We also brought some famous peanut candy at the 明裕食品. Yes, we queue for 30minutes!

Kelie Castle^^ A nice place for photo shooting!

Gunung Lang! Waterfall is so amazing!

Dinner was western cuisine at Yeolde English!

Monday, breakfast at Foh San Dim Sum.

Went to dabao dad's favourite before going back home!

Went to Jogoya Buffet Starhill for lunch! 1st try^^

Yeah! It was really an enjoyable and memorable trip with family!

(ps: obviously i no mood to blog in details anymore... Hahaha... )

怡保壁画美食寻礼

It was a relaxing Sunday, so five of us ( Shin Lin, Shin Wei, Yi Wen dan Shao Hui ) decided to have a jalan kaki trip at Ipoh town. We went to Ipoh Oldtown's 天津茶餐室 which is strongly recommended by Motormouth blogger. To our disappointment, the famous and popular 鸡丝河粉 did not open that day.But we still try the satay, popiah and 炖蛋. Frankly speaking, I am not the big fan of the food sold there. I can't accept the taste of 炖蛋,the chicken satay served by malay will be better and as for popiah, I prefer 冬菇亭....Hehehe... So, next time will only try 鸡丝河粉... Still not satisfied with the breakfast food search, we continued to the nearby Nam Chau Kopitiam to have the Ipoh famous Curry Mee ( according to Motormouth ). However, I find it 新泉方 curry mee is much more better because the soup is more 浓稠又有浓浓的curry香and the roast pork there is very yummy... Is kinda torturing to write this post now... Haha =P

After having breakfast, we went to Ipoh railway station for the very first time since we came here for almost four years already. Hmmm... railway station is just railway station, nothing special but it is very beautiful, clean and well-maintained especially the classic building... We also did not forget to take some pictures!

Dan boh lang~~~ haha

Then, we walked back to Ipoh Oldtown to search for the 玛丽莲梦露壁画. Actually, it is just situated behind 天津茶餐室.

Finished Mission 1 at Ipoh Oldtown, we walked to Ipoh Newtown which is situated at the other side of the bridge. So, here comes the Ipoh 壁画 pictures!

After satisfied taking all the photo, we had our lunch at a kopitiam at Newtown. We planned to have Hakka Mee but it was sold out when we reached. Omg, so fast man, it was around 12+pm only =.= I tried hakka mee at the kopitiam too but it was so-so only... We walked around Newtown and eat and eat... until we really full till throat... =DD Again, we walked to Ipoh Parade. It was kinda hot and what can I said is WE REALLY GENG MAN! hahaha...

There was clown performance and balloon workshop at the main stage. I made the very first doggy and sword balloons by myself ^.^

High tea time! We walked to the Secret Recipe for yummy cake temptation! I wanted to have Chocolate Indulgence but it was sold out... So sad man T.T

Orea Cheese Cake

We relaxed and chilled until about 6pm and then walked to 糖水街 for dinner... I have claypot yeemee... Not bad... Hehe... Our Ipoh jalan kaki one day trip had come to an end... Is tiring but worth it because is hard to find the opportunity again....

Happy girl. Happy day.
Hope for a better tomorrow.

Day with Emily and friends at Ipoh

Finally, Emily came to Ipoh to meet me. She told me the night before and I was very panic because I did not plan anything and that time was already 11pm. So, Lin and I acted as the tour guide even though we got lost when on the way to Newtown from Oldtown...

Emily and friends came to our house at about 9am and luckily they can find the way to our house. After that, we went to Oldtown Nan Xiang Coffee Shop to have our breakfast.

The most delicious and famous egg-tart!!!
I like it very much because the skin is cripsy and the inner is like 炖蛋( very smooth).

egg-tart and 芋角

 Pandan Leaf Chao Kuey Teow!
It is also very popular there but I find it is too oily and the serving size is very small.

After having our breakfast, we went around Oldtown and we saw this...
Batu Pahat Goldsmith =P

Then, we went to Ipoh Parade which is just a stone throw away from Oldtown. First time shopping with guys and I can feel that they were really boring when we, girls were going into fashion shop and trying our clothes. Happily, Lin, Emily and I bought the same kind of school bag. Actually, we aimed this bag long time ago, we did not bought it because of the colour. But, this time 天时地利人和 and we three Sotongs bought the same bag.

After shopping, we went to Newtown to have our lunch. It is about 2pm that time. We went to 乐会居茶餐室 which I intended to go because of the recommendation from 怡保好吃好玩fb.

 鸡丝河粉 RM3.80
It is quite expensive but I like it^^

Then, we walked around the Newtown and searched for 新荣香饼家 which I discovered it from other's blog. The kaya puff there is very famous and nice!

 新鲜出炉的kayapuff

 咸蛋酥

 月饼

We queue for about ten minutes just to buy the kaya puff. Some customers even bought ten boxes of kaya puff. See, how famous and popular the kaya puff is...

We also did not miss out to try the soya bean which is famous too. The queue was also very long and it was divided to people line and car line. Of course, we were choosing the car line as we can drink it inside the car.

豆腐花

After this, we went to Jusco but it was raining heavily that time and we cant get a parking space at Jusco. It was crowded with car and we spent about one hour just to get the car park. You can imagine how we killed the time in the car... Less than one hour time, we came out from Jusco because Ipoh Jusco is really not much than that. Then, we went to E-box to sing K which Emily eager for a long time... Had a nice K-ing with them and they were really funny people... They will get high easily and the song that they sang was really special... After 4 hours K-ing, Emily brought Lin and I back home and it was nearly 11pm... Had a nice day and hope they enjoyed themselves too...
